One of the most common reasons why people have bad breath is because they do not have enough moisture in their mouth.
Bacteria is a rather complex organism although it is considered by many to be a simple cell organism. The fact of the matter is, if you give bacteria an area in which to breed and grow, is going to quickly do so. Dry mouth leaves behind an environment which bacteria can not ignore. As it continues to breed and grow inside of your mouth, it gives off an odor that many people refer to as halitosis.
This can often be seen whenever you wake up in the morning and most people consider this to be a regular occurrence. The fact of the matter is, your breath does not smell in the morning because you have not brushed your teeth for quite some time. Rather, our salivary glands tend to slow down during the night and it leaves behind a dry mouth full of bacteria. The only way for you to be able to get rid of the morning breath is to clean your mouth and to allow it to hydrate again which kills the bacteria that exists.
If your mouth is dry throughout the day, you will have a similar problem although it will be a lot more chronic. There are a number of different reasons why you may have a problem with dry mouth including medication and some types of foods that you eat. One of the most common reasons why we have halitosis as a result of dry mouth is because we are not drinking enough water. As a matter of fact, most of us are walking around in a dehydrated state almost all of the time.
Fixing the problem is rather simple but it is still going to take a little bit of effort on your part. In order to get rid of our dry mouth, we need to hydrate ourselves properly and to keep ourselves hydrated for the long term. This is done by drinking water and we need to make sure that we are drinking enough of it during the day so that we are not thirsty. It is also a good idea if you give up other types of drinks or at least substitute water for some of them during the day as most have a dehydrating effect.
