A bad breath is often caused by imbalances in the body
I'm sure that you have been hearing, ever since you were a young child that you should eat balanced meals. What you may not realize is that it has a lot more to do with your overall health than simply how you're going to look. A good example of this is if we are dealing with halitosis, or bad breath. This is often caused by imbalances in the body and although it can be cured in many cases by increasing our oral hygiene, it may also be caused by diet and no amount of tooth brushing is going to be able to cure it.
There are some specific things that you can do with your diet in order to help treat your halitosis
The first thing that you need to do is to stop eating anything that may be a direct cause of bad breath. Certain foods have oils in them which can really make your breath rather pungent if you eat them. Examples of these foods are garlic and onions although there is a long list of foods to avoid if you have a problem in this area. And even if you think that you're not going to be around people for a little while so it will not matter if you eat this food, some of them may actually cause halitosis for up to 72 hours after the initial digestion takes place.
It is also important that you're drinking water regularly as this is going to do a lot to help with your breath, regardless of what you eat. Many of us are walking around in a dehydrated state and this can cause bad breath as well as the food that we are eating. We may also drink other liquids besides water which may be directly causing the bad breath and additional dehydration in our body. A good example of this is caffeinated coffee, the enemy of our breath and a natural diuretic. If you do need to drink a cup of coffee, make sure you drink an additional glass of water to compensate.
Changing your diet in order to cure halitosis is not only going to get rid of your problem with bad breath, it is also going to help you to look and feel much better. The results of your eating a balanced diet are going to be easily recognized by individuals from a long way off and if you happen to be standing where they can smell your breath, they will recognize it there as well.
